Kylo Ren Bio:
Kylo Ren is user of the Dark Side of the force. He is part of a group called the Knights of Ren. From this group he has taken on the surname of Ren. Ren for the group is thus similar to the use of Darth by the Sith Lords. Kylo Ren has been shown holding the remains of Darth Vader's helmet. Some have suggested that he is obsessed with older dark lord who died 30 years prior.
Kylo Ren has allied himself with the First Order a resurgent organization that has grown out of the remains of the Galatic Empire.
Kylo Ren is the son of Princess Leia and Han Solo and grandson of Anakin Skywalker. His birth name was Ben Solo prior to taking on the name of Kylo Ren. At one point he was trained by Luke Skywalker at his new Jedi School. While at the school he was recruited and seduced to the Dark Side by Snoke. Snoke then made Ben into one of his elite members of the Knights of Ren. Ben betrayed Skywalker killing many of the other students at the Jedi School. After the loss of the Jedi School, Luke went into hiding and Ben joined Snoke and his First Order.
Force Awakens:
Kylo Ren is hunting for fragments of the map that lead to the last Jedi Luke Skywalker. This leads him to capturing Resistance Pilot Poe Dameron on the planet of Jakku. The map fragment barely escapes him when Poe puts the map fragment into his astromech droid BB-8 prior to his capture. A stormtrooper Finn then defects with Poe Dameron creating a new threat to First Order. The First Order is approaching completion of the Star Killer base and do not want the Resistance to know of its existence. With the threat of this information Kylo begins furiousily chase after Finn and his new found companion Rey. The pair join with the Astromech BB-8 and manage to escape on the Millenium Falcon from the planet of Jakku
First Order Spies alert the Kylo Ren that Finn and Rey have
The Resistance strikes the Star Killer Station, where Han Solo, Finn and Chewbaca manage to meet up with Daisy. Kylo attempts to stop the resistance group from bombing the station but is met by his father Han Solo. Kylo kills Han Solo much to the dismay of Rey, Finn and Chewbaca.
Kylo Ren then battles Finn and Rey as they attempt to escape the crumbling base. Finn has in his possession the light saber of Anakin Skywalker and both Finn and Rey duel with Kylo. Eventaully, Rey gets the better of Kylo and cuts him on his face. A chasm opens up between the two prior to Kylo being able retaliate. Finn and Rey escape leaving Kylo to wonder who Rey is.
Snoke who has trained Kylo in the ways of the Darkside asks Kylo to return so that his training can be complete.
Light Saber:
Kylo Ren uses a distinctive light saber that has a cross guard (2 blades jutting out perpendicular from the main blade). Kylo Ren constructed the lightsaber himself in the Sith/ Jedi fashion.
Some have also described its blade as unusually jagged for a light saber.
It is said that the cross guard is a release of energy from the lightsaber and while this is an ancient design it also seems to be caused by Kylo Ren not being a true Sith/Jedi master. The rawness of the lightsaber is also shown by how it violently flickers.

He has been shown wearing a mask that bears a resemblance to the mask of Darth Vader.
