Carter Wilcox (David Phillip Carollo) is awkward around women but when he sees call girl Riley Whatley (Melissa O'Brien), he falls madly in love with her. The only way to get to see her is by arranging a meeting, but instead of sex he asks if he can do a painting of her. Meanwhile a local cult who worship at the Church Of Starry Wisdom, are seeking a woman with a certain type of birthmark on their asscheek. The woman in question (yep you guessed it) Riley has such a birthmark. Unfortunately for Riley this means the cult will now be after her so they can fulfill the prophecy of the rise of Cthulhu. Carter meanwhile will do his best to stop this from happening all in the name of love. You don't have to be a aficionado of Lovecraft's work to admire this movie but those who do love his work will get a kick out of the nods to his work throughout. The acting is just what is needed for this type of movie not too serious and not over the top. There of course is nudity as you would expect from a film featuring hookers, a decent amount of splatter effects and a story that is enjoyable to see play out. If Lovecraft was alive today it would be interesting to see what he would make of this film, but for me CALL GIRL OF CTHULHU has future cult classic written all over it.
