So what exactly is this Marvel Legacy?

I was sitting around this morning sipping my coffee and eating a giant breakfast burrito from Santiagos. Its an awesome burrito place in Denver.  Yeah I'm obviousily a health nut.  I am reading info on the 1,000,000 BC Avengers (Which by the way sounds pretty cool, at least cooler than I initially thought) but as I am sitting there I am thinking well what is Marvel Legacy?

There is going to be a Marvel Legacy one shot.   There is going to a bunch of books put beneath that banner.  Its supposedly going to be a jumping on point for new readers but is it an event?  Marvel says no.  They say its a story that encampsulates a bunch of events.  That said I see it kind of like an event.   The easiest way to describe it is that it is a Marvel Rebirth (Even though they will never admit to taking a play from DC and/or a claim at rebooting their universe).

Marvel Legacy is a new staging point for the Marvel universe where Marvel hopes to create a new balance between its old and new characters.  Legacy is going to be an event, but Marvel is not going to call it an event.  The goal is to dig into Marvel's past and have that past interact with the future.

They also promise for some characters to come back?  New revelations to be made! You know all that fun comic book event stuff.

I do think all Marvel fans are going to want to get their hands on Marvel Legacy #1 to see what the fuss is about.  That starter book comes out soon on September 27.    Marvel Legacy 1 delves into the origins of its universe with a series called Avengers 1,000,000 BC.  This is a group of Avengers that includes various ancient Avengers that have connections with the present day heroes.   They include characters like the 1st Blackpanther, The Phoenix Force, Odin, Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Star Brand and Agamotto.  In Legacy #1 this group will face off against a Celestial.
