In the latest television crossover between all of DC Comics' TV super heroes: Crisis on Earth X, we are presented with a strong event story that truly succeeds at combining all of the shows within the Arrowverse, and creates a highly important turning point for all of its' series. The focal point of the crossovers' beginning starts with the final build up to the wedding of the Flash (Barry Allen) and the love of his life: Iris. Aside from Barry and Iris' closest friends and family being present, also in attendance are their many other friends and allies; that being the heroes from Arrow, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. However the wedding is interrupted and put on hold, when the gathering of heroes is attacked by Nazi's that come from the alternate reality of Earth X. From there it's up to the combined might of the nearly twenty super heroes to work together and stop the Earth X Nazi's from hurting their world, all the while plenty of emotional drama occurs between the characters as well.

Now first off: this crossover does what any super hero crossover should do well. Bringing together many heroes to take on a large threat that they can only defeat through the power of ultimate teamwork. They all may come from different cities, different cultures, different time periods, and even different planets; but despite how differently they all fight the forces of evil, they find a way to work together to stop that evil. That by itself is already inspiring. It's pretty much the ideal American dream, that being many people of different backgrounds and cultures still finding a way to work together for the common good. Aside from that, the rest of the crossover's main plot is pretty simple. Villains from another earth are invading, and that's it. We don't need to over-examine their ideologies or how they're just misunderstood. They're Nazis and they want to hurt people, that's all you need to know. Also, they're aided by the Reverse Flash of Earth 1 who has come back to life because: be quiet, villains always come back to life, lets spend less time on explanation and more time on awesome action.

But when it comes to the subplots and the character focused moments, this crossover should first and foremost be commended for feeling like a true combination of all of the Arrowverse shows. You see, the majority of past crossovers really just felt like special episodes of one of the TV shows with the characters from the other shows just popping in. This crossover however from start to finish, never felt like an episode of Supergirl with the characters from other shows appearing, or an episode of Arrow with tons of super hero guest stars. It honestly felt like someone mashed all of these shows together, to a point where: you feel all of these many characters with their four series' worth of backstories, were always meant come together like this. And more importantly: all of the series' main characters get equal focus. Supergirl is an essential character in this crossover, Green Arrow has a pivotal role in this tale, the Flash is a major player in the story, and several of the Legends of Tomorrow characters give this event a lot of heart.

Now if you had to nit-pick, sadly half of this crossover features many of the supporting characters out of commission. However from a behind the scenes standpoint, this is understandable because the actors were still working on the regular episodes of their respective TV shows. Meaning this episode lacks the majority of the Supergirl cast the majority of the time, half of Team Arrow is gone half the time, half of Team Flash is out of commission for awhile, and half of Team Legends doesn't show up until the final quarter of the event. But that being said, this does help play to the story's strength. By not having twenty super heroes having to be balanced during every part of the crossover, it allows for good development of a smaller group of main characters. And what's also nice here is: since all of the character stuff with these individuals in this crossover plays off ongoing plot lines that were developing in all four shows, it essentially thanks all of the fans that have been keeping up with all of the episodes of every series for staying tuned to them all.

Now that being said, if you haven't been keeping up with every single episode of every single one of these shows: there's still some quick dialogue said between characters to help catch you up to speed. Except for the Flash characters. The Flash truly is the one show you really need to be watching to not be confused out of your mind. But what also helps make this crossover stronger than most is: there are consequences that happen in this event story that will affect every single series. For the Flash fans: this a major tale because it focuses on the wedding of Barry and Iris. For Legends of Tomorrow fans: there are tons of pivotal and emotional scenes that focus on Martin Stein and Jefferson Jackson. For Arrow fans: we get a major turning point in Oliver and Felicity's relationship. And for Supergirl fans: well, there's less plot development for that series here, but there still is emotional and character development for Supergirl and her sister: Alex. But nearly everyone else still gets their chance to be awesome. Like previous crossovers, all of these twenty plus characters just play off of each other so well.

Now this crossover does take many breaks in the story for the characters just to talk, but you honestly never care because it's just so amazingly enjoyable to see all these characters just talk about serious stuff, silly stuff, important emotions on their mind, along with tons and tons of really great one liners. And on an extra note: this crossover really makes Green Arrow, the Flash, and Supergirl truly feel like the super hero trinity of the Arrowverse now (with the Legends of Tomorrow feeling like their own version of the Justice League that support them). But aside from that: this is one very enjoyable tale you wanna go into with as few spoilers as possible. It's a crossover story that's serious, silly, has a simple plot, but has well done character based stuff, with some really great emotional moments as well. It's got lots of great action, but it doesn't forget to have well done quieter moments as well. Overall: Crisis on Earth X tops every single past super hero crossover story ever done on television, all the while still being able to stand as inspiring story of heroes simply being heroes; something the world will never stop needing.
