Fuller House Season 3 continues the story of everyone's favorite comedy characters, all the while finding a way to make this classic sitcom style show still feel fresh and entertaining. Now when it came to the first two seasons of Fuller House, the advantage the series had on its' side was a nostalgic fan base full of Full House fans that were excited to see their favorite characters return. But starting with the third season, the only way this new series was truly going to thrive is if it found a way to stand out as a truly entertaining show on it's own merits. And thankfully, this season more than ever truly does. Despite still using call backs and nostalgic winks to the past, Fuller House Season 3 easily stands out as probably one of the most solid seasons of the entire Full House/Fuller House franchise.

Now to be clear: you're only still watching this series if you're a fan of the classic sitcom format that this show uses. There's nothing ground breaking, new, or edgy when it comes to watching Fuller House. However, there's one important component that makes this newest season stand out; and that's - effort. More than ever: you feel more time, energy, talent, and all around fun went into making this entertaining set of episodes. And that's not even a completely subjective thing to say, but also an objective statement as well. First off, this season has a record amount of song and dance numbers. They're not award winning musical moments, but they definitely showcase just how talented these many actors have become over the years and again: you just feel like more time, energy, talent, and fun went into these dance numbers versus what we got from the franchise in the past.

Then, there's more on location shooting for the series. Such as in the second to last episode of the season: we actually see the actors in front of the real life Full House house (yeah for those that don't know, the creator of the series actually bought it so now they can actually film the actors in front of it). And of course: right in the middle of the season, we get a special extended episode featuring all of the characters in Japan. No, not a sound stage with establishing shots of Tokyo mixed in. They actually filmed an episode all around Japan; like in a great number of multiple locations such as the down town Shibuya, the Tokyo dome, the Harajuku district, and even Hello Kitty Land (yeah I had no idea this place existed until watching this episode, but I think Japan is about to get thousands of more squealing English speaking fan girl tourists now). And thankfully, the writing feels more refined than ever now. Yes, the basic plots of most episodes are pretty simple. However some of the simple dialogue and character interactions get more clever.

For example, Jackson and Ramona in one episode are asked to go a day technology free. However when Ramona's mother is challenged to do the same, she has an ever harder time doing so. Which brings to light a simple new societal issue in our culture, that being adults are arguably even more addicted to technology now than teenagers are. It's simple but clever writing like that, that makes this series become more of a fun reflection of society today, rather than just being a comedy show that exists in it. There's even some nice social commentary in one episode when DJ learns her youngest son Tommy may have a developmental disability or delay due to his very limited vocabulary. It's a nice message to parents in that it says: it's okay if your child isn't starting to spurt out lots of silly one liners and cute phrases. Not every kid is like Michelle Tanner was in the early days of Full House, but that doesn't make them any less of a special individual. That's actually a nice subtle message that may fix preconceived notions of what all children are supposed to be like that some people may have unintentionally gotten from watching Full House when they were younger.

Now again, you're only going to like this season if you enjoy this format of entertainment. Yeah, the show is still a little corny and super sweet at times. However... this is season 3. If you don't like this format, why are you still watching? Although if the answer is yes, it may just be because of the actors. They're just so into their characters this season, it's hard to not listen to them speak and just interact with each other. Even Max (who was personally my least favorite character in the series up to this point) just has an actor that's just so into his role now, you kind of just decide not to care anymore that he's not quite a realistic child, and instead just enjoy this young actor's super energy filled performance. Everyone just feels very comfortable in their roles now and just so... again, into what they're doing. So yeah, not much complex or deep writing in this season (with a few exceptions but I won't spoil those). But if you're just looking for pure fun entertainment while you have some free time one day and want to watch a group of familiar performers that are truly giving it their all now... then yeah: Fuller House Season 3 is definitely worth watching sometime soon.
