Comedy

Deck The Halls is a Christmas-themed comedy that is so typical straight-to-DVD fare, to think it would star two then-80s stars, Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito in the type of fare they probably would have turned down during the height of their fame, 3 decades ago, is something. There is no chemistry involving onscreen couplings Broderick with then - Sex In The City's Kristin Davis and DeVito with post- Ugly Betty's Kirsten Chenoweth; though it's hard to think that outside of Ferris Bueller, Broderick has delivered a truly standout performance. This is a feuding The Odd Couple - type farce and rivalry that develops between DeVito and Broderick, as they attempt to outdo the other and is a bad example of how not to do a Christmas comedy. Though not completely humourless, the jokes and slapstick all come across as recycled, tired and boring and besides being not wacky enough, the story is pure tedium and the film in general lacks any sort of wit and wacky entertainment to boost it.

Is It Worth Watching?
