They get more than they bargained for after Jacob is resurrected in order to exact revenge on his attackers.
Candy Corn absolutely deserves all of the media buzz surrounding it. This movie is right up my alley, and is everything I had hoped it would be. If you’re intrigued by the trailer and movie poster you’re in for the ride of your life. In my opinion Pancho Moler’s portrayal of Doctor Death is the best part of this film. He is absolutely fantastic and plays the role so well. If you’re a fan of his acting style, you can catch Moler in Rob Zombie’s newest effort, 3 From Hell.
This is one of those films that you add to your yearly roster. It’s the perfect blend of Horror, Carnival Sideshow, and Halloween. I can’t wait for it to be released on DVD so I can watch it along with my other favorite Halloween staples. Candy Corn was written and directed by the talented John Hasty and stars horror icons Courtney Gains (Children Of The Corn, Tony Todd (Candy Man) and P.J. Soles (Halloween). It was great to see these three in a movie together. My only complaints are I wish Tony Todd was given more screen time, and that we saw more of Doctor Death’s Sideshow Spectacular.
I give Candy Corn a 10/10. It has that gritty, old school horror vibe that I absolutely love. I recommend this movie to anyone who’s a fan of House Of 1000 Corpses, John Carpenter’s Halloween, and American Horror Story: Freakshow.
