Celeste Koon's retelling of her grandparents love affair through letters from Mount Everest where her grandfather was on an expedition is a charmer.

Koon's grandparents met when her grandfather arrived from Germany at Montreal’s McGill University and needed help with his English. They quickly fell in love, and even more so as they exchanged letters every day while he was studying the mountain on the other side of the world.

Buoyed not only by the word of the two lovers, but their filmmaker offspring, LOVE LETTERS FROM EVEREST  is a joy and a gem. A small slice of life opens the heart,  even of a grouch like me,  this is a film that will warm your soul and make you fall in love with life.

The story is so good and so well told I would love to see if it could somehow be expanded into a feature film.

An absolute must see at DOC NYC (tickets here) or where ever it plays, and it is the perfect excuse to cut out of

work early and see the collection of shorts it's part of.
