So remember how 2 months ago I rewatched In Secret and my sinuses blew up? So, uh, funny story...
10 days of antibiotics and I now think there is definitely a link between my health and thirst. But on the upside I saw plenty of movies this week.
I don't give a shit about this boring and gross Oscar season but at least there were some amazing Bridget Jones references made by Hugh Grant during the BAFTAs.
Ladies and gentlemen, Rebel Wilson. Andrew Scott was absolutely losing his shit during her monologue.
This is the best FYC this year.
The fucking nerve of the Academy. Keanu is gonna be a presenter, though! I cannot believe Oscar is flying his sexy ass to LA just to present at the Oscars. I'm gonna have to watch those moments, because I ain't wasting 3h on this whole mess.
Character posters for Black Widow.
Superbowl commercials for Black Widow, No Time to Die, Top Gun 2.
New Bond movie is coming out in 2 months? I thought that was a year away or something.
You remember how last week Jason kept teasing us with snippets of his Superbowl commercial on instagram? And they were all of him in the bathtub? Yeah, well this is what the actual commercial ended up being. I think this is the level of confidence only people who look godlike could possibly possess. And still very few of them do. The balls on this man. Literally and figuratively. HUGE.
Replace her. Her performance was the worst thing about the first movie and using the movement for her personal gain is fucking disgusting. This chick tried to be Amy Dunne but goddamn she is so dumb.
Seriously, WB has to do something right for ONCE. Birds of Prey is getting absolutely amazing reviews and the marketing for it was so bad it's probably gonna flop. Doctor Sleep flopped because of terrible release strategy. At this point I have no hope for Dune and even Wonder Woman 1984. So the least WB can do is recast this mess.
You have no idea how disheartening it is that female led R rated CBM is gonna earn 3 times less than male led R rated CBM. BoP will make what? 350 mil worldwide? IncelWorship made over a billion. We keep losing, ladies.
Ewan McGregor, everyone.
Sam Raimi is going to direct Doctor Strange 2.
Stanley Tucci is on the level none of us we'll ever be at.
John Mulaney and Daniel Craig will host SNL this season!
They are starting to film The Witcher season 2 next month. They already wrote the scripts. So just imagine what great quality they must be, because this is REALLY fast.
I rewatched Uncut Gems. It's just soooo good. I cannot believe it didn't get awards love. The music, the performances, the script, the cinematography. What a movie. Also I disagree that it is very stressful, I had great time with it and so many lines are hilarious. But maybe it's just because my life is stressful comparing to this. No, the mob is not chasing me, but lawyering is hard.
I also watched their previous movie - Good Time, which I didn't like as much, but it was really good. I'm psyched to see what they do next.
I watched Dark Waters and it was great. It's a really well made movie that tells an important story. Another movie about which both those things could be said is Just Mercy. Granted, neither of those actually makes any of my line ups, but they are well crafted movies that should be focused on, certainly above poorly made trash by Phillips and Tarantino that is about nothing at all, has nothing to say and is of appalling quality and yet got so many nominations.
The Wailing was good but honestly after watching The Handmaiden, I don't think any South Korean movie can even impress me anymore.
I rewatched Suicide Squad. Margot as Harley really is a gift and I'm sad we won't see Will Smith's Deadshot again.
I finally watched The King. All that talk about Pattinson's ridiculous accent didn't get me to watch this. Nicholas Britell's score didn't get me to watch this. But Ben having 3 scenes? That did the trick. I cannot believe this is not the only time this year when I will watch one of my favs get sidelined for Timmy to lead the film. Ugh. Anyways, some of the visuals, the music and Chalamet's work were strong but it was nothing memorable.Other than Pattinson's accent. What the fuck was that?!
I rewatched Ready Player One and Rogue One.
That pun my letterboxd was too ladylike for but this site definitely isn't?
"I want to choke on his aspirations".
I have no shame. Deal with it.
I also watched Exodus: Gods and Kings. Clearly, self-respect is another thing I do not have.
And I saw Vertical Limit. Please do read my batshit letterboxd post.
And I finally saw something worse than Wolves for thirst reasons. I never suffered worse for less.
Oh and I watched Mississippi Grind and at some points of this - fine, at MANY points of this - there was actually danger of this happening. He was so cute! Yes, he played a degenerate gambler, but SO CUTE! 10/10 would let him rob me. Great movie too, really enjoyed it. I couldn't believe after he played the piano this chick didn't throw herself at him. That was just stupid.
*hold on, I fell on the floor while uploading this gif*
*I have to get up*
*oh shit, I fell down again*
*....*
*.......*
*OK, I'M BACK*
The above content is from Starred Up, which I watched and livetweeted. To my ear, he did a flawless British prisoner accent in this. How does he do that?! I don't understand how that's possible! Also there was entirely too much disciplining going on in this movie for me not to giggle like an idiot. I watched it so wide-eyed and gasping the entire time. Very good film.
Animal Kingdom was great but I liked the two aforementioned better. I think it's just overhyped. I loved this shot. Also things got fucking weird during this one. There was this moment where he was staring at this young girl who was sleeping and I was like "oh no, where is this going" but then he very gently carried her to bed so I was like *squeals* but then few scenes later he SUFFOCATED HER WITH HIS BARE HAND.
So you know....mixed bag for thirsting.
I also watched Untogether which after reading this and this was interesting. So his ex-wife wrote this a while back but then when they were splitting up she was directing this. It's funny because all the characters but his are so unlikable. Also, all of you weirdos who find Jaime Dornan attractive - he shows ass in this. But so does Ben, so it's a win for everyone.
Oh, Slow West was...delightful to look at.
I just want to go to there.
I love that they let him keep the coat but he shouldn't even have to ask!
New episode of The Outsider dropped early last week and it was just filled with so many amazing shots.I mean like overall, but these were some I especially loved.
